In early 2017, ITDP Indonesia starts to work closely with Public Works Agency (Dinas Bina Marga) DKI Jakarta to upgrade NMT facilities in Jakarta. The office asked ITDP to assist and delivering suggestions and advice about the project. The project itself has begun and now entering construction phase. ITDP Indonesia specifically assisting the Dinas Bina Marga team project placing the street furniture such as way finding, totem, green ways, bike lane, utilities and more based on the design in Jatinegara area.
As part of the assistance for Dinas Bina Marga DKI Jakarta, ITDP Indonesia composed “Jakarta NMT Vision & Design Guideline”. The first draft has successfully delivered to the authorities and it will be the first stage of recommendation for Jakarta’s NMT project for the next 5 years (2017-2022). Included in the guideline, the results of #PedestrianFirst Campaign with Qlue during Orderly Sidewalk Month on August 2017.
Starting in 2016, ITDP Indonesia providing technical assistance for Medan city official in upgrading sustainable transport system in the city. The technical assistance includes upgrading the system of BRT, NMT and TDM in downtown area. As for NMT, ITDP Indonesia assist the city government in several focuses such as;
a. The concept and design of NMT facilities in downtown area
b. Sideways typology design for downtown area
c. Recommendation for road lane justification
d. Recommendation for parking management
In 2017, ITDP Indonesia and Semarang city official has signed an MoU to improve Semarang Urban Mobility with better pedestrian and cyclist facilities integrated with improved public transport system which aimed to become the first step toward mass transit system in Semarang City.
The goals for Semarang Urban Mobility:
- Semarang NMT facilities improvement
- Semarang mass transit system and integration improvement
- Preparing for the integration of road based mass transit development in Semarang
- Pedestrian and mass transit’s policy oriented and limiting car usage.
